les promenades à Paris (Some walks in Paris)

My friends and I have taken many many walks in Paris. I have taken some on my own and some with them. I tend to take more time when I am on my own than with others, although it is more fun to take people with you. People don’t always see the same things and with all points of view added to the mix it can be more enriching.

The below was taken when I was walking alone. (I was on my way to the Louvre) Nice little gate HUH? ;) it is actually about 15 feet tall even though the second picture makes it look tiny, its really quite large.

On my way home...

Self portrait.... The Louvre is in the background along with the river that runs through Paris I walked a lot that day. The Louvre is in the background along with the river that runs through Paris I walked a lot that day. The Louvre was the official royal residence for many years it seems huge, but when you start walking through it. It seems so much larger… I have no idea why anyone would need such a large place to live in. Napoleon lived there after he came to power. He took a small portion of the palace and made it his apartments. I walked through some of his apartments they were so very plush and extravagant. They made the rooms in Versailles seem small and sparse.

Right above the trees... starting from the mast of the boats to the edge of the largest tree is the spance of the Louvre.

Getting closer to home I found a little nursery and took some pictures. Many of the plants are the same as what you find in the States. There are not any that I have found yet that we don't have in the States. The verities might be the fancier kind, but they are not hard to get, just a little more expensive that your average potted foliage. ;)
